Tips for California business planning with a disability

Business planning can sometimes seem daunting even for the savviest of entrepreneurs. For those who may have a disability of some sort, it can sometimes seem even more challenging. However, many of the steps involved in California business planning will be the same for individuals with or without disabilities.

Those wishing to start up a small business are probably going to want to engage in solid business planning steps like setting a marketing strategy, seeking good financing options, laying the foundation for an effective business structure, etc. This remains the case whether or not a business person has a disability. However there are a couple of things that entrepreneurs with disabilities should probably keep in mind.

First, those who have disabilities and receive benefits like Social Security, Medicaid or other types of disability insurance need to keep those benefits in mind when engaging in business planning. It will probably be important to work with some sort of trained profession knowledgeable about such benefits and how starting up a business can affect them. It can be crucial to understand how a potential new source of income may affect eligibility for certain benefits.

Secondly, those California entrepreneurs who have a disability will likely want to keep that in mind as far as workplace accommodation goes. After all, as an entrepreneur with a disability engaged in business planning, there is probably no better person to design whatever sorts of workplace accommodation may be necessary to ensure greater success. Keeping these two relatively straightforward items in mind will hopefully help smooth over the business start-up phase.
