Mark Wahlberg, Russel Crowe movie center of contract dispute

Mark Wahlberg, Russel Crowe and Catherine Zeta-Jones fans may have enjoyed their film, "Broken City" in 2013. What many may not know, however, is that the film was the center of a contract dispute which actually led to a lawsuit. The claim was filed by Nemesis Finance, the film's main investor. Many business people in California may relate to such circumstances.

Nemesis Finance accused the movie's producers and several other parties of misrepresenting amounts owed to investors to secure reductions in residual deposits that designated movie guilds would require. Nemesis Finance claimed this was constitued fraud and could cause a $1.6 million loss to the company. Neither Wahlberg, Crowe or Zeta-Jones was a party to the lawsuit.

A settlement between the film's producers, other defendants and the investing company was reportedly recently reached. The amount of settlement to be paid to Nemesis Finance is $6.2 million. While it would be logical to assume that such complications would end any fiscal relationship between the two sides, reports suggest otherwise.

Reportedly, the settlement achieved in the contract dispute between film producers and Nemesis Finance was obtained in an amicable manner. Parties to both sides say they are looking forward to future business endeavors together. Many California business owners have also been able to obtain similar successful results in the face of difficult contract problems. Often, such positive results hinge upon skilled and experienced representation throughout negotiations and all court proceedings. Anyone currently addressing contract complications may want to discuss the issue with someone who has provided support to others in similar circumstances.
