Contractor sues several companies in business contract dispute

Customers are always a priority for just about any business. However, sometimes a customer can abuse the situation and decide to not fulfill on payments promised in a service contract in California. This seems to have been the case in a recent case involving a construction firm. The company is currently suing one of its customers in a recent business contract dispute.

The lawsuit, which was filed in early August, claims that the construction company was contracted by Terra Properties to provide roofing services as well as other improvements for various real estate properties. The contract for construction services on the properties owned by Retko Group was signed in mid-December 2012. Apparently, the defendants had agreed to reimburse the construction company for specified labor and materials. However, the defendants failed to reimburse the company as promised in the contract, according to the complaint filed in court.

The construction company is asking the court to order the defendants to pay the total principal sum due, which is more than $50,000. The plaintiff is also asking for interest to be added to the judgment as well as court costs and legal fees. Also, the complaint is asking for a lien against the properties owned by the defendants.

On the other hand, the defendants also have the right to defend themselves against the allegations in the construction company's complaint filed with the court. This is true for any business that may itself be sued in a business contract dispute in California. However, the judge will ultimately decide what party will prevail based upon the legal arguments presented in court.
